Melanie is an award-winning multi-platinum songwriter/vocal producer. Best known for co-writing “LET’S WAIT AWHILE” (Janet Jackson’s “Control Album”) which charted #1 on Billboard charts and sold over 13 million copies world-wide. Creating a stir in the music world, Melanie started her career as one of the most sought after young writers in the music industry. Melanie also co-wrote three songs for the Legendary Band, “EARTH WIND & FIRE.”

She has written/produced for many more top music artists and record labels such as Interscope, Warner Bros., Universal, Disney, A&M, Geffen and more! Melanie has also sang background vocals on many hit songs. Her charming personality, along with her drive and ambition, landed her a 5-year deal with the powerhouse publishing company, Famous Music, (a Paramount Picture Company). After spearheading numerous successful songs and artists, (including a deal with world-renowned Lee Iacocca) Melanie created her own independent record/publishing company, MDI (Music Development Inc.) Melanie’s most current projects include her new creation,”NEW SCHOOL KIDS JAMZ ” and more solo artists being released in 2013 on her record label.

Melanie has always been dedicated to inspiring and teaching youth, so she opened and directed several DANCING/SINGING/RECORDING STUDIO’s that have become a “hot spots” in the Los Angeles and Orange County California areas! Her unprecedented arrival into the music business has given Melanie an extraordinary reputation that continues to thrive.


jay-shanklinJay Shanklin, Producer/Arranger, MDI Co-Founder

Jay Shanklin is Melanie’s business partner and an extremely gifted songwriter/producer/arranger who started out his career signed to Epic Records as the bass player of the R&B group, “TEASE.” Jay (along with Melanie Andrews) created “THE NEW SCHOOL KIDS JAMZ” and co-wrote/produced and arranged all songs! Jay is known for his infamous Hip Hop tracks & he co-wrote and produced the critically acclaimed rap album, “Bagin’ on Wax” featuring real members of the Gang Truce in the streets Los Angeles, California. This album was produced under Jay’s alias name (“J.Stank”) and is known as being a monumental Rap album which helped promote “peace in the streets” in a very authentic true-life urban manner! Jay’s Higher profile clients include Herbie Hancock, and Boyz II Men and has written/produced theme songs for several TV shows. Jay has worked on many major label projects in a range of capacities. Jay has a true devotion to helping new artists musically and produces competitive music tracks so they can move into the industry with an original hit record!


kristina-zahabiJen Trevour (Lambert) – Musical Theater Director

Miss Jen has taught for nearly 20 years in both the private and public arena, directing and producing youth productions, as well as building successful children’s music and theater programs from the ground up.

As a graduate of CSU Fullerton, Jen earned her B.A. in Performing Arts with an emphasis in Musical Theater, a Teaching Credential in Music, as well as a Master’s degree in Education. She developed and taught the Elementary Vocal Music Program for Orange Unified School District for six years before moving into the private sector to pursue directing opportunities and private coaching, specialized programs for local studios, schools, and playhouses.

Jen’s programs implement a mindful approach to her Theater and Glee Workshops and Productions. She currently enjoys directorial residency at her daughters’ school, Newport Elementary, and with Melody Makers OC Artist Development.

As an artist, Jen has performed theatrical roles in show’s including Disneyland’s Animazement, Hello Dolly, Pirates of Penzance, Oklahoma, Company, Falsettos, and a featured role as Miss Hill in Laguna Playhouse’s Original Presentation, Looking For Home.

She’s performed with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, providing backup vocals for artists such as Patti LuPone, Kenny Loggins, Sarah Brightman, and Roger Daltry. For two decades she has entertained with Heavenly Voices Productions as a Christmas Belles Caroler, and a Nightengal (an Andrews Sisters tribute trio). Jen appears currently as a solo acoustic singer/songwriter, lead vocalist for her band, Jenny Be Good, as well as featured artist for local spiritual centers and various cover bands ranging in style from Motown to Alternative Rock.

She can be heard in the recorded musicals Surf Story and The Enchanted Cottage as well as her original album, “Overmedium.”


hannah-clausenHannah Clausen, Director of Client Relations

Hannah graduated with honors from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Ca with a degree in Cinematic Arts and a minor in Journalism. For two years, she worked at the Office of Advancement at Azusa Pacific University where she discovered her skills of attention to detail, event planning, and customer relations, among many others.

Hannah has been surrounded by and has a love for music her entire life, as both of her older brothers are composers. Hannah is the Director of Client Relations at Melody Makers Inc., and its sister company Music Development Inc. (MDI). She works closely with CEO and president, Melanie Andrews on upcoming
concerts, projects, performances, and opportunities.


dave-shermanDave Sherman, Engineer/Instrumental Instructor

Dave graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA with a performance degree. Dave is a recording engineer for Melody Makers Inc. He is a composer, performer, and multi instrumental teacher here at Melody Makers Inc.


vanessa-rosasVanessa Rosas, Technical Voice Instructor

Vanessa is Melody Makers OC’s technical voice and musical theater voice instructor. She received a Master’s in Pedagogy at the Peabody Conservatory University and a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance at California State University of Stanislaus. Vanessa has been working at a voice and piano studio since 2009, she has also been section leader of multiple choirs, Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Kenwood Presbyterian, just to name a few. She has also been involved in multiple theater productions with major roles (Carmen, Before Breakfast, Madame Butterfly, etc.)
She is excited to become part of the family here at Melody Makers!


guillermo-garciaGuillermo Garcia Jr., Technical Vocal Instructor, Violin and Piano Instructor

Guillermo Garcia Jr. is a technical voice teacher, violin teacher, and piano teacher at Melody Makers OC. He is a graduate of California State University Stanislaus with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance. There he built his own voice studio with students ranging from age 7 to 64. Guillermo made his opera debut in Townsend Opera’s 2010 production of The Merry Widow, and has since been cast in Townsend Opera’s Romeo and Juliet, Madama Butterfly, The Mikado, and La Traviata. As a teacher, singer/songwriter, and formal composer, Guillermo looks forward to the creative collaborations Melody Makers has to offer!


sarah-groffCourtney Miller – Choreographer / Master Instructor

What do Michael Jackson, Usher, Beyonce’, and Britney Spears all have in common?

They’ve all worked under the watchful eye of one of L.A.’s hottest choreographers, Courtney Miller Jr. Courtney’s choreography credits include: Kirby Buckets, New Girl, Freaky Deaky, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, The MTV Music Awards, The Soul Train Awards, The Grammy’s, The American Music Awards, and the Billboard Awards.

He choreographed the iconic “Dangerous” for Michael Jackson on the MTV awards; the most expensive music video ever made “Scream”, and was both a dancer and co-choreographer on Michael Jackson’s History World tour. He recently worked with the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus for Disney’s Friends for Change campaign and was the resident choreographer for the Disney hit, “That’s So Raven”. Courtney added author and executive producer to his long resume, with the completion of his first book – “The Business of Dance – Everything you need to know about the Hollywood dance industry”.1.

aubrienne-o-mearaAubrienne O’Meara, Dance Instructor

Aubrienne O’Meara began dancing at the age of three, and recognized dance as her passion not long after.

Aubrienne recently graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance Performance, and a Minor in Education. She currently teaches dance for students from ages 2-adult at various dance studios, as well as guest teaching and choreographing for high schools across Orange County and Los Angeles.
In the summer of 2012, Aubrienne trained with The Joffrey Ballet School, working with industry professionals such as Mia Michaels, Mandy Moore, Anna-Marie Holmes, Josie Walsh, Julie Bourne, Havic, and Dante 7. Aubrienne was also a member of the Irvine Valley College (IVC) Performing Dance Ensemble, formerly under the direction of the late, Marie De La Palme, and now working with choreographers, Michel Gervais and Raul Cruz. Through the IVC Performing Dance Ensemble, she was given the opportunity to travel to Texas where she performed as a soloist in a piece for the American College Dance Festival.

Having newly relocated to Hollywood, CA, Aubrienne is eager to combine her passions of dance, yoga, and teaching, and see what the future has in store!


kristina-zahabiKristina Zahabi, Dance Instructor

Kristina Zahabi graduated Chapman University, with a BA in Art History and Psychology. She has been dancing since the age of 5 and was heavily involved with her high school’s dance program as well as serving as Vice President of HALO: Dance for Autism in its first year running. For the last five years, she has been an instructor and choreographer, specializing in lyrical, jazz, ballet, and hip hop.

Sarah Groff is a passionate performer with eight years of ballet, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical training. She is currently a dance major at Orange Coast College pursuing her Pilates and dance certificate. Sarah connects and communicates very well with all ages. She has a passion for teaching dance and sharing the art with others.
